Star Trek Online players have gathered in-game to pay tribute to Christopher Plummer, the legendary Canadian actor who died aged 91 this week. The Oscar winner was perhaps best-known for playing Captain Von Trapp in The Sound of Music, but he famously starred as Klingon General Chang in the 1991 film Star Trek 6: The Undiscovered Country. Plummer reprised the role of Chang for the 2000 video game Star Trek: Klingon Academy, which explained how his character lost an eye.

Pistol Whip, the critically acclaimed rhythm FPS is from Cloudhead Games, has just added its first-ever cinematic story campaign - an eye-searing sci-fi nightmare known as 2089 - on PSVR. 2089, which made its debut on PC at the tail-end of last year, transplants Pistol Whip's mesmerising, music-driven first-person shooter action - an intense, balletic mix of dodging, ducking, blasting, and high-score chasing - to the far-flung, neon-smeared future. What follows is an five-scene, 30-minute-long story campaign - complete with animated cutscenes, voice work, and a synthwave soundtrack - in which protagonist John Asminov confronts an army of killer machines after tracking a distress signal to an off-world colony. Stardew Valley creator Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone says the celebrated farm-life sim's mammoth 1.5 update has finally been submitted for console certification, and will hopefully release "late this month or early next month". Barone delighted Stardew Valley fans on PC with a surprise pre-Christmas launch for the game's long-teased 1.5 update at the tail-end of last year, and console players have been eagerly awaiting its arrival on their platform of choice ever since. That excitement is entirely understandable too; Stardew Valley's 1.5 release is another enormous update for the beloved game, introducing a raft of new features including local split-screen co-op, a new beach-themed farm layout, late-game home renovations, new characters and events, new music, "remixed" game options, and more.
