Super Coder Speeds Up Yet Another SNES Classic
Konami's Axelay benefits from the FastROM treatment. Remember Brazilan coder Vitor Vilela? He's been making it his quest to fix SNES games that are plagued with slowdown, and he's already worked his magic on titles such as Contra III, Super R-Type and Super Mario World. The issue is that the SNES' Ricoh 5A22 CPU is pretty slow, and the console struggles with certain games when there's a lot happening on-screen.

Six Days in Fallujah has remerged 11 years after Konami ditched it. The Iraq war game, which is set during 2004's Second Battle of Fallujah, was dropped by Konami in April 2009 due to the amount of negative feedback received. "After seeing the reaction to the video game in the United States and hearing opinions sent through phone calls and email, we decided several days ago not to sell it," a Konami spokesperson said at the time. No, Konami Isn't Exiting The Video Game Business
"We have not 'shut down' our video gaming division". While video games seem to be fairly resilient to the effects of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, that hasn't stopped some companies from taking a good, hard look at how they operate – one of which is Japanese giant Konami, the firm behind titles like Castlevania, Metal Gear Solid, Pro Evolution Soccer and current Japanese chart-topper Momotaro Dentetsu: Showa, Heisei, Reiwa mo Teiban!, which we spoke about recently. It's long been argued by hardcore fans that Konami's glory days are in the past, and it's certainly true that the firm has released fewer AAA titles in recent years; it is heavily invested in health centres and also has pachinko and amusement businesses, and these sectors have proved to be very successful of late (well, pre-COVID, at any rate). Switch remains king in the Land of the Rising Sun. Famitsu's Japanese chart figures are now in for the period 23rd - 29th of November, and not much has changed at the top, with the railroad-themed Momotaro Dentetsu: Showa, Heisei, Reiwa mo Teiban! remaining in first place while Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is still in second. However, both titles saw their weekly sales drop by quite some margin; Momotaro Dentetsu dropped from 345,697 to 126,729 while Age of Calamity's figures plunged from 173,215 last week to 40,667.
