Gorgeous Blade Runner-esque delivery thriller Cloudpunk gets first-person cockpit view
Gorgeous Blade Runner-esque delivery thriller Cloudpunk gets first-person cockpit view
Developer Ion Lands' glorious Blade Runner-esque delivery thriller Cloudpunk is already an absolute joy to meander around, thanks to its gorgeously designed open-world playground - a vast rain-slicked sci-fi metropolis shrouded in endless night - but, from today, PC players can admire its neon-streaked, voxel-based splendour while staring out the window of their flying HOVA cars, thanks to a new first-person cockpit update. Cloudpunk, if you've not yet had the pleasure, casts players as protagonist Rania as she attempts to survive her first 24 hours in the perpetually sodden city of Nivalis, completing jobs - primarily by zipping back and forth through the night sky, ferrying packages and passengers around the place - at the behest of illicit delivery company Cloudpunk. Before long Rania and Cloudpunk's immensely likeable cast of characters - including her loyal AI companion dog Camus - finds themselves embroiled in suitably intriguing mystery, and while the ensuing adventure might be a little slight (there's not much to do in the city outside of the main plot), careening nippily around that breathtaking cityscape is a constant delight. Gorgeous Blade Runner-esque delivery thriller Cloudpunk comes to consoles in October
Developer Ion Lands' gorgeous delivery driving neo-noir thriller Cloudpunk is currently revving its engine (or whatever it is that futuristic flying cars use to get about the place) and readying to swerve onto Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Switch on 15th October. Cloudpunk released on PC earlier this year, and immediately drew attention for its stunningly designed open-world playground, a vast rain-slicked metropolis shrouded in endless night and bathed in blazing neon that most definitely wouldn't look out of place in Blade Runner. The city, Nivalis, is the very recent home of protagonist Rania, and it's up to players to whiz around the voxel world in her nippy flying HOVA car in a bid to complete jobs and survive her first night working for illicit delivery company Cloudpunk. CEX staff react in dismay as stores set to re-open for browsing
CEX staff concerned for the safety of both customers and employees have told Eurogamer they are worried about the high street trade-in giant's plans to re-open shops in England next week. Workers at a number of different branches, speaking under condition of anonymity to protect their jobs, told me they had been left dismayed by their employer's decisions to allow customer browsing and to not quarantine traded-in items for 72 hours. CEX shops in England are due to open their doors next Monday morning, 15th June, with outlets in Wales and Scotland to follow at a later date.
