Hot Wheels Unleashed looks better than anyone would have thought
Well now. The Hot Wheels game looks surprisingly okay. The first gameplay for Hot Wheels Unleashed, below, shows off what looks like a decent arcade racer starring the cars from the hugely-popular toy range. In truth there's not a huge amount going on here apart from the driving, with a lack of environmental hazards or even power-ups to contend with.

Intel Xe DG2 could rival Nvidia’s RTX 3070 and AMD’s RX 6800
Intel's gaming-focused Xe DG2 GPU is expected to release next year, and could bring some more variety to our currently two-branded best graphics card guide, if its performance is up to scratch. The card is expected to come with up to 512 execution units at a rumoured cost somewhere between $400 and $600, and this top-end model looks like it has the capability to trounce high-end cards like Nvidia's RTX 3070 and AMD's RX 6800 if a new video from Moore’s law is dead is anything to go by.

New Space Game Puts You In Control Of Everyone, Like A God
The Fermi Paradox is “a choice-driven sci-fi narrative strategy game” that’s coming later this year on PC, where instead of taking control of a single space-faring faction, you’re more of a “gardener”, tending to loads of factions and trying to guide them from the stone age into the depths of space. Destroy All Humans Brings Its Earth Conquering Madness to Switch on 29th June
Welcome to Earth. Destroy All Humans! was a bit of a cult-classic on the PS2 and original Xbox, adopting some crude humour, chaotic fun and flipping the script on the whole aliens-attacking-Earth narrative; you play as the aliens, and as the name makes clear you're not there to make friends. THQ Nordic and developer Black Forest Games gave it the remaster treatment on assorted systems last Summer, and now it's finally making its way to Nintendo Switch with a 29th June release date.

BioWare offers detailed breakdown of Mass Effect Legendary Edition's extensive changes
Mass Effect Legendary Edition is almost upon us, and in the run-up to its launch on 14th May, BioWare has detailed its multitude of tweaks and enhancements in an thorough new blog post. Most of the Legendary Edition's top-level improvements - which include extensive work on the original Mass Effect, ranging from dramatically improved environments to overhauled Mako driving - have been detailed previously, but a new post on the BioWare website breaks these down still further, giving fans a comprehensive list of everything due on launch day. Amnesia: Rebirth drops darkness, jump scares, and deadly monsters in new Adventure Mode
Frictional Games' desert horror Amnesia: Rebirth has just received a free new Adventure Mode, stripping out the game's life-threatening monster encounters, jump scares, and darkness for those keen to experience its story without fear of fainting dead away. Amnesia: Rebirth - the third game in the series, following on from Frictional's 2010 original and the Chinese-Room-developed A Machine for Pigs - launched last year, taking players on an unsettling adventure across the Algerian desert in the 1930s. Its tale - focusing on protagonist Tasi Trianon as she traverses the hostile expanse, pulling together fragments of her past - earned much praise on release (Eurogamer reviewer Vikki Blake called it an "impressive horror subversion" and a story that "gripped me right up until the credits rolled"), and Rebirth's new Adventure Mode aims to make it more accessible to all. Turn a grim laundromat into a bustling 90s arcade in Vostok Inc. dev's Arcade Paradise
Vostok Inc. developer Nosebleed Interactive is trading space-capitalism for retro-tinged arcade management in its newly unveiled Arcade Paradise, coming to PC and consoles later this year. In Arcade Paradise, players are cast as Ashley, a teenager trying to transform the family's small-town laundromat into a bustling retro arcade, somewhere in the 1990s. What follows is a game of two halves; on the one side, Ashley will need to complete dull chores - washing clothes, clearing out the rubbish, cleaning toilets (all given a suitably entertaining mini-game twist) - in order to raise the money needed to turn the King Wash laundromat into a booming arcade hangout, managing the business and investing profits along the way. Poll: Monster Hunter Rise Is Out Today On Switch, Are You Getting It?
And will this be your first MH game? The day for tracking down mighty foes and slaying them with your closest friends has finally arrived, as Monster Hunter Rise launches today on Nintendo Switch. In some ways, the Monster Hunter franchise is a bit of an odd beast; we tend to see a divide between players who find the prospect of jumping into the series hugely daunting (likely because there's an awful lot to learn and you need a decent amount of free time to enjoy it properly), and those who are absolutely smitten with anything and everything it has to offer, knowing the game and its mechanics inside and out.
