Review: Arcade Archives Haunted Castle - The Worst Castlevania? Quite Possibly
Sucks to be you. Back in the early '90s, Castlevania was mostly known for being a console series, with three entries on the NES, three on the Game Boy, and four total across the 16-bit platforms (assuming, of course, you consider the PC Engine to be a true 16-bit system).

Turn a grim laundromat into a bustling 90s arcade in Vostok Inc. dev's Arcade Paradise
Vostok Inc. developer Nosebleed Interactive is trading space-capitalism for retro-tinged arcade management in its newly unveiled Arcade Paradise, coming to PC and consoles later this year. In Arcade Paradise, players are cast as Ashley, a teenager trying to transform the family's small-town laundromat into a bustling retro arcade, somewhere in the 1990s. What follows is a game of two halves; on the one side, Ashley will need to complete dull chores - washing clothes, clearing out the rubbish, cleaning toilets (all given a suitably entertaining mini-game twist) - in order to raise the money needed to turn the King Wash laundromat into a booming arcade hangout, managing the business and investing profits along the way. "Lost Classic" Clockwork Aquario Gets Its First Teaser Trailer
From the creator of Wonder Boy. The first teaser trailer for Clockwork Aquario, the 1993 "lost" classic which is being resurrected for modern console this year, has been released. Created by Wonder Boy studio Westone, Clockwork Aquario was originally destined for early '90s arcades but never saw the light of day – a casualty of the coin-op sector's obsession with one-on-one fighters in the wake of Street Fighter II. "I am the Great Cornholio". Children of the '90s will no doubt be familiar with the exploits of Beavis and Butt-Head, two rather dim-witted teens who enjoyed amazing success via an MTV series, movie and even a smattering of (mostly bad) video games. If you're one of those '90s kids, then it's fair to say you're also familiar with the Zelda series (why would you visit a site called Nintendo Life if you weren't?), and are aware of the animated TV show based on that franchise which aired in the late '80s. No stone left unturned. French publisher Geeks Line is no stranger to a good book – it has already given us the superb N64, SNES and GameCube anthologies – and it's rounding off this Nintendo-themed selection with an exhaustive look at the machine that started it all, the NES (or Famicom if you're of the Japanese persuasion). Penned by Math Manent – who also wrote the aforementioned N64 and GameCube anthologies – the book covers the history of this epic system in an astonishing degree of detail, from its inception in the early '80s to its eventual demise as the 16-bit era took off in the '90s.

Although it's not exactly 'new'. Mini Review: Arcade Archives Zero Team - A Long-Lost Coin-Op Relic That's Worth Unearthing
We could be zeroes, just for one day. While the arrival of Streets of Rage 4 and The TakeOver might lead you to assume that the belt-scrolling brawler is back in vogue, it's still a pretty niche genre in 2020 – and, to be brutally honest, that has been the case since the mid-'90s, by which point Street Fighter II had made the one-on-one fighter the genre of choice for millions of players all over the globe. Zero Team – the only side-scrolling fighter created by Seibu Kaihatsu, which is most famous for its Raiden series of vertical shooters – arrived at just the wrong time in arcades.

This unreleased project has been largely shrouded in mystery, but thanks to video game historians Liam Robertson and Frank Gasking - creator of 'Games That Weren't - we've now got our first look at the game in motion.
